Christine Giguère studied visual arts in Montreal where she explored different mediums, such as painting, sculpture, photography and animated film. She then worked as a professional artist on a number of projects in different artistic fields. Whether in scenic or decorative painting, in illustration and animation, for scenic, interactive, or immersive projections, her work has been found in many places around the world. Her many trips abroad, including several extended stays, have fueled her imagination and expanded her image bank of places, atmospheres and textures, contributing to her current creations.
Her creative material now consists of her photographs taken here and elsewhere, her paintings on canvas and on paper and her charcoal and ink drawings. Then, digitally, she superimposes, adds and subtracts, she plays with the materials that she transforms, cuts, until she creates an evocative, resonant image. The fusion of different materials, painting, drawing and photography, results in images of distinct visual style lying at the frontier between abstract and figurative art. Inspired by landscapes, the patina of time, the organic and the living, the images of the outside world are transmuted into immaterial, interiorized landscapes, having abandoned their concrete and identifiable character to become evocations and the expression of her sensitivity to the world. .
